Sage 300 ERP 2018: What's New?

So, here are a couple of things I've learned about the upcoming release of Sage 300 ERP 2018. There were some key modifications to the user interface with the revamping of the ribbon bar on the home page. It will be quite noticeable initially but the new design will make sense. You will recognize some new functionality in various modules like Accounts Payable and I believe Order Entry.

Once you launch the program and sign-in, you'll notice in the upper right-hand corner, the USER ID of the person that just signed on. This was a much needed addition to manage users without digging through drop-down menus. It reminds me of Office 365. With my attention still focused on the top of the screen, I noted how the navigational ribbon has changed significantly. In previous versions of Sage 300 ERP, you had drop-down menus (File, Object, View, Macro and Help) with 16 icons underneath it that allowed for opening a company to access to Live Chat. Now, you will have groups on the navigational ribbon bar that were previously associated with the above menu items which makes for a cleaner view. All your tasks appear on the navigational ribbon.

There are six groups on the navigational ribbon bar and the first is FILE. The tasks associated with that group allows you to open and close a company, setup your page and select print destination options.

The next group is the OBJECTS and it has an object drop-down menu where you can perform tasks like opening an object that is highlighted, choose properties to alter icons and change titles for example. You can also copy, paste and delete icons from this view.
