In our quarterly newsletter, we discussed the fact that Office 365 refers to subscription plans that include access to Office applications plus other productivity services that are enabled over the Internet (cloud services). Some examples of the cloud services are Skype for Business web conferencing, Exchange Online and OneDrive for Business. Many Office 365 plans also include the desktop version of the latest Office applications like Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint, Access and Publisher . Microsoft Office 2016 is a boxed product that can be purchased from retail out-lets, distributors, VARs or an ISO down-load from Microsoft site. It is licensed for a single user on a single machine only. There are different editions which may or may not include all of the productivity suite of programs like Word, Excel, Access, OneNote, Publisher, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project. For more information on the differences between Office 365, Office 2016 and Office Online, see here. You can also refer to the Office 365 for business FAQ for more information.
